BURDUR LAKE

Burdur Lake, trending between Söğüt Mountain and northeast-southwest Suludere-Yayladağ masses, tectonic trough-shaped dent formed by the filling of waters and in the world generations of white-headed ducks declining world population, about 75 percent of which winter and about 11,000 fauna assets with the international criteria of a wetland area. Especially in the north and east of the lake, dense bird populations attract bird watchers nature lovers.

Located southwest of Lake Burdur, 'Water Birds of Burdur Lake Wildlife Conservation Area'; birds such as Flamingo, Crested pact, Swan, Shelduck, Eurasian Coot, can be determined by the presence of 85 bird species 'Ornithological tourism' within the Observation Avian (Bird Observation) and landscape features which has a very convenient location. Today, in terms of tourism Burdur Lake can’t be valued , 25-30 years ago the lake was used as a beach and a health tourism. Today it can be used as much larger source of tourism. In the last few years it has started to be used as tourism, health tourism, and sailing.

Previous research shows that the Burdur Lake isn’t rich enough in nutrients. However, the lake, close to 100 bird species and approximately 300 thousand water birds and especially it houses to 70% endangered white-headed ducks.
